RPC ERROR: Filesystem I/O Error Mount error(13): Permission denied refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (eg: man mount, cifs) and kernel log messages (dmesg)
Hi! Welcome to the community. You’ve missed something in the guide. I can’t help you identify what, because zero context has been provided. Please start over, and let us know what step of the guide you are on if you get stuck, or if something doesn’t look right.
Hey mate
Thanks for your reply, I do appreciate it. I did go back to start and go through the whole process, I must of fixed something as I now have a different error message, I think the problem is to do with the Tor Browser, either way I am doing something incorrect and I can’t work out why. The problem it’s more than likely me! and I can’t pinpoint directly what I think the problem is.
I can’t complete the initial back up as I keep getting the message RPC ERROR : Net work error name_query failed to find Kahuna67 (Kahuna67 is the PC user name)!
I am wondering if I should reset the Start9 and try again?
Regards
Jason Davis
Please provide some information about the machine named Kahuna67. Please tell us a little about your network setup, and what step of the guide are you on when you encounter the error?
I am using a recondition Dell 5500 that I brought particularly to run the Start9 so there was not to many other apps etc on the PC. I am running this PC via the home WiFi 2.4 GHz (1) 144/144 (Mbps). The error appears at the system page Create Back up - New Network Folder . This is the Connect StartOS step on the install manual.
This is the share folder path as create per the manual instructions,
Start9 Share folder
(file://KAHUNA/Users/Kahuna67/Desktop/Start9%20Share%20folder)
RPC ERROR Network Error Name-query failed to find name Kahuna67
I am unable to complete the required first back up and are unable to move forward if this is not correct as I assume it is critical to the safe operation of the Start9.
Is there anyone in Australia who can assist?
Appreciate your help

This is definitely not right. Can you please provide a link to the guide you are following?
Part of what we are doing with helping people overcome problems like this, is to identify incorrect information in, or parts of the guide that are unclear. The hope is we can adjust the guide to prevent others from encountering the same.
Hey Mate
This is the link Start9 | User Manual I believe I was doing each step as documented but I obviously I have miss understood or stuffed up some how!

Please link to the specific page that has the contains the step, which you encounter the error. I need to better understand where you are, and how you got there in order to provide direction going forward. I haven’t been able to help thus far, because I haven’t been able to establish a map.
Cheers
I am unable to send you the link as the Error message comes up “can’t send link to this host” and can only send 1 image!
It is the connect start OS Create Back up and it is at step 3 attached image of screen
Hope that helps

Okay. We’re way off base. Let’s start over, I have some prerequisite questions, which the answers might be private. I’d recommend you come see us for live support. We can walk you through it, from the top, in real time.
We’re there for personal one on one live support 15 hours per day, 7 days per week. If you bought your server from Start9, this support is included in the cost of your server. Just redeem the code that is on your sever, or in an email you received at the time of purchase. If you’re on a DIY device, you can support the work Start9 is doing, by purchasing a redemption code for lifetime live support via a link on that page. If this isn’t a good option for you right now, no problem! I’m happy to do the same thing here via DM. It just won’t be real time, so not nearly as efficient. We’ll have to go slow.
Hope you see you on the support server, or via DM. Talk to you soon!
