Has anyone been able to get Hermes running on Server Pure? I’m coming to the conclusion that on a non-GPU, CPU inference only it won’t work. I’m trying to get it working so I can use it with Home Assistant and managing network. Appreciate any help. Thank You!

Hermes service itself runs fine on Server Pure. As well as Server 1. As well as a whole bunch of DIY devices as well.

My experience matches yours - pointing Hermes at local inference, which is non-GPU, CPU only, does not work well. I’ve tried running local inference on Server Pure as well as some more powerful DIY machines. None of that was satisfactory.

My experience has been that you need significant inference to support Hermes, and unless you have a serious GPU available locally, it does not work well.

I’m currently experimenting with the latest version of Hermes using my Claude subscription for inference. That provides reasonable performance but does not satisfy my desire for security and privacy.

I’m open to additional options, but right now, it seems my best bet is to save up for a significant purchase of local hardware to run my own AI inference.

As you said, Hermes itself works fine on StartOS. It’s the models that won’t run unless you have very expensive machines. If you’re after privacy, point Hermes Agent to venice.ai instead of OpenAI/Claude/etc. It can also use OpenRouter which has some privacy endpoints.
