# Unable to login to Nextcloud iOS app

Previously was using 0.3.5.1 and was able to login to Nextcloud by using the iOS app. But after upgrading to 0.4.1 I am unable to make any connections thru the iOS app. I used the WebDAV mDNS url still no go. But then I can open the webui no problem.
any ideas how I can connect using the iOS Nextcloud app?

Hi @S9btc, can you check two things for me?
1. Open Nextcloud in the StartOS dashboard, go to its Interfaces tab, and find the WebDAV address listed there now. Can you confirm that’s exactly the URL (including port) you have entered in the iOS app? Addresses changed format when you moved to 0.4.1, so if the app still has the old one saved, that’d explain it.
2. On the iPhone itself (not just in Safari), can you confirm you’ve installed and trusted the Root CA? It’s Settings \> General \> VPN & Device Management to check if the profile is installed, then Settings \> General \> About \> Certificate Trust Settings to confirm it’s toggled on. This is separate from trusting it in a browser, and the iOS app won’t connect without it even if Safari works fine.

That’s the url which I used for the Nextcloud iOS app.
1. Yes. The Root CA certificate is installed and enabled in iOS.
in Safari or any other browser I am able to login by opening the url within the Nextcloud Interface.
Not sure why I am unable to login to Nextcloud instance using the iOS app. I tried removing the account, deleting the app and reinstalling but still unable to login.

Hi @S9btc, thanks for confirming. Please try substituting your server’s LAN IP address for `thorny-bush.local` in that same URL (`https://192.168.x.x:58586/remote.php/dav/`) and see if the app connects. If IP works and `.local` doesn’t in the app, that confirms it’s mDNS resolution in the app, and the fix is either use the IP (Interfaces tab should let you copy it), or set up a private domain instead, which resolves the same way `.local` does but tends to be more reliably picked up.
