1 TB Storage Almost Full?

I have the 1TB Start9 Server and on settings it shows disk usage is 98.4% (917/934 GB)

I dont understand how my storage is already full when i only run Bitcoin Knots and associated services. See attached disk usage and services currently installed. There seems to be an issue because on ClarkMoody the chain size is 751 GB.

Where is the extra 166 GB being taken up?

The only services that are installed are Bitcoin Knots, electrs, LND, Ride the Lightning, Core Lightning, Lightning Terminal, Mempool, Thunderhub.

In order to get a breakdown of the specific disk usage of each individual service on your server, you will have to set up SSH access with this guide.

Once that is done, you can enter the following command and get a full breakdown of what space each service is taking up on your server.

sudo du -hd 1 /embassy-data/package-data/volumes/

You also have to keep in mind that StartOS does take up some space by itself to provide all the benefits such as a GUI etc.

At this point in time a 1TB drive is really not going to cut it for what you are trying to use it for. Usually our recommendation is at least 2TB in order to have some margin.

I followed the guide you posted and I get the following response:

Do you see a problem? Any advice on what can be removed so i dont run out of disk space on my node.

I have the Embassy One 1Tb version when it came out a few years ago. Can it me upgraded to 2tb?

Also it showed 832GB of disk space taken up, whereas on the settings the total disk space used is 917GB. Is that difference 85GB all from the StartOS system?

Hi Nymmo!

It looks like you’re running a Bitcoin stack with Mempool and Electrs. If you want to keep these services running, you’ll need to upgrade your drive—there’s not much else you can do to maintain them.

Let me know if you need help with the upgrade process!
