I am trying to install startos on a MSI Cubi N ADL-020BUS Intel N100 mini PC with a 2 TB Samsung 990 PRO m2 drive.
I flashed my USB drive with startos-0.3.5.1 non free and installed startos onto my SSD. I was prompted to remove the drive and reboot. The system then just boots back to the bios.
I have made sure to turn off secure boot. After reboot, the PC still detecs the SSD.
I saw this thread that adressed a similar issue, but was unsure if it would work on my PC:
Does anyone have experience with this PC or any ideas on a fix? I would be very grateful for some help.
BTW, that process I described in that thread is not destructive and can be reversed if it doesn’t work out (it doesn’t overwrite anything that StartOS installs). Definitely worth a try IMO. If you get stuck, I’ll be happy to help you troubleshoot. BTW, Secure Boot isn’t an issue with StartOS in my (admittedly limited) experience, as it ships with a Microsoft-signed shim. If you do get it going you should be able to re-enable Secure Boot.
I have an Intel Intel NUC D54250 (8gb RAM, 2tb SSD) that has the same problem. If I hit F10 to bring up the boot menu, and then select the listed SSD, it all works perfectly. But it fails to load if UEFI booting is selected… Just gives me the EFI Shell.
