Alby Hub (LDK) open channel with CLN

Is it possible to open a channel between my Alby Hub and CLN both of which are hosted on Start9?

  • Attempts to add tor (.onion addresses) peers or channels fail in Alby Hub.
  • CLN has no clearnet hostname address.
  • I have my Alby Node ID, but can’t find Alby Hub’s hostname address anywhere. (tor or otherwise)

Seems CLN only operates on tor, and Alby (LDK) only operates on clearnet?
I want to set up Alby to receive Ocean Bolt12 payouts, but I’m not paying to open/buy a channel that may or may not stay open in Alby. I want to open a channel between Alby and CLN first. Why is this so hard to do? Any suggestions?

Alby’s LDK “light node” doesn’t support connecting to .onions. They simply didn’t implement the feature.

Why not sent up Bolt12 offers on your CLN node?

Ahh okay. Good to know.

Yeah, I have, I am. There was about a month where payouts to my CLN unexplainably would not go through, then unexplainably started working again.

I just want to do all the things. I found out Alby does Bolt12 now, wanted to give it a try.

Just checking, is there a clearnet IP address available in new versions of CLN on Start9? I don’t like to update instantly with every new release. I’m still using CLN version 25.09.1~1. My understanding is that Alby now supports custom channels as long as they are initiated from their side… meaning I need the clearnet address of my CLN.

Clearnet access to services is a feature dependent on StartOS and version 0.4.0. It isn’t related to CLN.
