APP UI not reachable on Android (GrapheneOS)

Hey everyone,

i set up a DIY Start9 server and so far its all running smoothly. The only thing i cannot get to work is accessing the App UIs on my Android phone (running Graphene OS). It works fine on my Windows desktop and my PopOS laptop, but not on my phone. I have set up Root CA and can access the StartOS page, but App UIs wont open. It says “DNS address of … was not found” and DNS_PROBE_POSSIBLE. Im running Mullvad VPN and have allowed local network sharing. Turning the VPN off doesnt help either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

There should be no issues accessing individual service URLs from GrapheneOS, it’ll work first time on successfully completing the standard Android steps in the StartOS documentation. I’ve successfully gone through the process twice in just the past few weeks.

This would suggest that whether this issue is, it has been caused by something you did (or missed).

My general suggestion would be to go through the process again, but perhaps troubleshooting would be quicker.

Things I notice…

I see a Brave logo in there. Whatever that is, remove it. By adding multiple points of interference in the process it’ll be harder to determine what your issue is. We need to start from having everything turned off / removed.

You turned off Mullvard. Is it really turned off? GrapheneOS by default prevents all connections to anywhere if a VPN is activated once and then turned off. Can you access website normally when the VPN is off? There is a setting your have to toggle.

Thanks for your reply! I found out that it is indeed blocked by the VPN… As soon as i completely deactivate Mullvad it works fine. So my solution now is to use another browser exclusively for Start9 which bypasses the VPN by split tunneling, so my default browser is still going through the VPN.
