The current version does not support scheduled automatic backups out of the box. Last I heard, they are planned for v0.4.1.
It is possible if you SSH into your StartOS server to use the start-cli commands to trigger encrypted backups . If you schedule that command to occur with cron, it can occur fully automated. I created a guide to do just this. But this was not particularly secure. It exposed your password more than needed.
I just posted an updated guide that helps with hiding your password and also discusses a more advanced approach where you do daily, weekly, and monthly backups.
For my personal use, I created an admin tools utility to help me automate additional checks on my StartOS server and to alert me about startOS Notifications and if my StartOS server has become unreachable.
