Hey there - Just getting into the mining game, mostly for learning. Not expecting to find a block.
Recently set up a Canaan Avalon Nano S & S9 Server One… loving it BTW. FWIW I’m also running Knots, so one of those new people sending that signal.
I have a problem pointing the Avalon to my public pool and it picking up hash. Went through the entire process of setting up simple proxy correct, everything is OK there. The Avalon connects fine and picks up hash using CK Pool, but once I enter in the stratum URL from the public pool I created into my Avalon, it still hashes but that data isn’t picking up in the public pool interface.
FWIW the local IP address on public pool’s UI did take a day or two to appear there, but even after trying it a few times it doesn’t seem to be hashing to my own public pool.
Anyway, noob here so lmk if anyone has any direction.
To be honest, as someone totally new to using terminal on mac and playing around with stuff like this… i just followed all the directions listed on Public Pool’s implementation, and did the same thing with Datum Gateway. So if you, or someone else knows how to confirm things are set up correctly through the command line I’m all ears.
I’m want to help, I’m just poking at your initial post to try to find something to ask you that might provide a starting point. So far we’re at “I did it correctly, but it doesn’t work”.
The simplyproxy instructions make it so publicpool is accessible on an IP and port. Doing this correctly makes it work immediately.
On a miner, you’d then pasting in that IP and Port.
My understanding, but it would really depend on Canaan’s software, is that if it couldn’t connect it would immediately failover to the second listing. If it’s hashing with staying on the first one you added, your publicpool UI, then this would suggest, I think, that it’s working.
On the publicpool side you could try refreshing and looking at the logs for incoming connections. If the UI shows nothing, and the logs show nothing connecting, then we can assume it’s not working. Maybe there’d be a clue there.
Your response has me thinking. I have a very similar problem, but Im using Bitaxe. I am not positive that I did the simple proxy right even though it looked exactly like the tutorials that I followed. I had to type the entire code by hand because the copy and paste wouldnt work on the Datum instruction page. Im going to check the logs too though… Im just adding this in case anyone is having this issue.
