Hello world,
i’m having problems creating a backup over network share. i followed the instruction to setup a network folder on my mac (ventura). When trying to create a backup on my embassy, following error occurs:
“Error
RPC ERROR: Filesystem I/O Error mount error(115): Operation now in progress Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs and kernel log messages (dmesg)”
Hello. I understand that you followed the guide at Start9 | Mac Network Folder and completed the backup setup successfully. However, you are encountering an error when attempting to create a backup?
MacBook pro with Sequioa 15.5 here. I checked that no firewall running or vpn. And getting RPC Error when creating backup over network share? ‘RPC Error: net address parsing error invalid ip address syntax.’ The start9 running. I successfully created backup a few weeks ago?
Thank you for responding to my dilemma. I haven’t had to set Mac’s IP as ‘static’ for previous backups. I have noticed the IP address changes, so I look up the address at the time of backup in ‘Sharing.’ I am learning about DHCP now. Thanks.
Hi - Also running into an RPC error when trying to add a new backup connection in Start9. I’m running Mac OS Sequoia 15.5 (24F74), firewall is not enabled, and trying to connect directly to the hostname (in the format of: smb://[HOSTNAME]). I getting the following error: RPC ERROR: Network Error name_query failed to find name
I haven’t tried using IP address approach but will try that next. I was hoping to be able to use the hostname. Eitherway, just wanted to pass this experience along! Thanks.
