BIP110 for the win!

I just made this account, read the rules, loved em, be nice, that to me is the true Bitcoin community. That is true Self Sovereign community. OWN your happiness, don’t let others take it. So in that spirit, let us all walk away from this discussion better than we left it. If I need help, I need you to help me, if I truly am wrong, do not bully me, help me, PLEASE!

Of the few comments I’ve made on this site so far I’ve referred to anti BIP110’ers as “cartoon network” supporters. I, like everyone, have mental issues, so don’t let that stop us from attempting civil discussion.

Why I support it: The chance of illegal images ending up in the place of those awesome wizard drawings is not zero… I require it to be zero. The “it’s not gonna happen” argument is not good enough for me, but if it is for you….. give me your seed phrase to your bitcoin…. I’m not gonna take it… see?

Why do you support it? If you care more about the pictures than Bitcoin as money then why wouldn’t you want your own fork? Honestly wouldn’t the money side of it be bloating the picture nodes? You could reduce the number of transactions, we could reduce the size of the transactions, a fork is a good thing for everyone.

I’m honestly making a sincere effort to open my mind, I don’t know how long it will last. I’m probably way too dumb for technicals… just saying if you have a technical reason why bitcoin requires pictures dumb it down for me OR if its like one of those laws with something else baked in, like you vote to make cigarettes illegal and it also bans the use of toilet paper in private. If it is legit going to DESTROY bitcoin, I really want to know in what way it would be possible? Pictures one way, money the other way, Bitcoiners can still be Bitcoiners, the community can come back together (there’s too much negative elsewhere in the world, it’s literally on fire, let’s have an oasis somewhere, we all know it’s going up in value, we all love it, let us all count our blessings that we are in and not out) and now I give you the floor you beautiful beautiful Bitcoiners.

quick shout out to the smart people at Start9 for facilitating civil discussion

Have you read Bitcoin OP_RETURN & Image Storage: Spam Debate ?

Dang, I was replying while reading it, then I had to delete everything I was saying to say this…. that article is frustrating. I can’t even debate it head on because it’s reassuring itself it found the problem by avoiding action. Here’s my parody of that article, respectfully:

I stepped in dog poop at the park…. but I’m not going to clean off because there are other dogs in the world and they’ll just poop somewhere else that I’ll step in, so I may as well not try to avoid stepping in poop, because if dogs find out I’m avoiding it they’ll just find something else for me to step in or new ways for me to step in it.

The digital signature might work, but I also see how adding even a tiny thing to ALL legit transactions could be comparable size bloat to the transactions of spammers. But entertaining spammers tho… my pappy used to have a saying that applies here… locks only keep the honest people out. Sure there’s more ways in than the front door, but the second you take those locks away, or the illusion of locks… you keep no one out.

Yo what about that movie Jurassic Park where they were talking about this exact scenario.

Jeff Goldblum: “Yeah, but your bitcoin core dev’s were so preoccupied with whether or not they could put spam on bitcoin that they didn’t stop to think if they should.” ← that’s real!

Then later on he was like “We shouldn’t do anything about the spam because.. life.. uhh.. finds a way”.

I appreciate the article, thanks for engaging with me, I hope as we get closer to BIP110 both sides find some solution together that puts Bitcoin as money first! I still think the pro spam/picture side still have a lot of people supporting Bitcoin as money only.
