Blockchain Keeps Timing Out When Syncing Bitcoin Core Node

I updated my Bitcoin Core Software to version 28.0.0-1 and the blockchain sync keeps timing out now that it is over 97% downloaded. What can I do to speed this up?? I already tried restarting as well as turning off my machine and turning it back on. Please let me know what I should do now. Its been stuck at over 97% for almost 24 hours now.

The blockchain download speed is totally dependent on the resources available on your server. If it is not a very powerful machine it is not unheard of that it slows down on the last part of the download.

The best course of action is letting it finish.

What hardware are you running StartOS on? Running any bitcoin related software requires a powerful device with enough memory and a fast SSD.

I am using a Lenovo Think Pad from Intel if that helps.

If using old hardware, you’re probably suffering from low resources. Whether it’s a slow processor, not enough memory, or a slow drive, one of these is proving to be a bottleneck.

If your hardware can support Bitcoin, looking at the logs should show that blocks are still coming in and getting verified. If they’re coming in fairly regularly (like at least one every several seconds) then your device probably has some life left in it and will probably reach 100%.

So it’s taking between 1 and 2 minutes for a new block to come in… That’s what I am seeing when checking the logs.

Ok so just to clarify, OS logs are coming in every few seconds. It’s the service logs that are taking 1-2 minutes to come in. I don’t know what I should look for when checking the Tor or Kernel Logs, if anything. Thanks so much for all your help.

I still have no understanding of your system specs. If your system specs are too low then this is completely normal.

How do I check my system specs??

You can check the resources being used by your server in the server UI.

System → Monitor

Will show how much is being used.
