Can I run Start9 on Khadas VIM3 Pro?

Hi guys,

So I’ve got a VIM3 Pro by Khadas lying around doing nothing and I wonder if I could run Start9 OS on this?

I’ve noticed there are no manuals on how to run Start9 on ARM devices. Any tips to get it up and running would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The answer to anything not on our known good list is “maybe.” You’ll need to use one of the ARM (aarch64) images from our latest release. Perhaps you can flash from a USB to an m.2, but I don’t know. If it doesn’t immediately work then you may need to fiddle with your device’s BIOS, or possibly even hack our builds.

Is there any way to create a generic arm64 image? You only provide installer iso and rpi image which may not be suitable for VIM3.

aarch64 is the generic arm image

Yes, but it’s an ISO? Why is it not there as an .img?

.iso is a standard (and the most popular), modern format for distributing software, such as Linux distros.

.img is a standard originally created for floppy disks, and while still in use and functional, it is fairly dated.

You can convert the .iso to a .img if you really want to.
