So, I had a VM working very well in v0.3.5.1, but I had to format my machine.
I backed up all the files I needed to restore the KVM and apparently I managed to restore and run it. What I forgot to backup was the “name” of it. I have the IP, but if I paste the IP in the browser I can’t access the S9 UI. I thought I would not need to bkp the certificate, because I could download it again. I don’t have the certificate in any other machine either
So, I see in Virtual Manager the host is running but don’t know how to access it. Is there a way?
A certificate has nothing to do with being able to find a device on the network. Your problem is unrelated to StartOS and is coming your VM setup.
I didn’t say that if I had the certificate I would be able to find the the host. What I was implying is that the filename of the certificate usually have the `adjective-noun` (that I don’t remember).
Given that I don’t remember the adjective-noun, is there a way to reach the login page of the S9 OS?
Right, understood. Yes, you can simply connect with the IP address, then login, then look to see what the .local was.
OK then something might be wrong with the VM because I am certain I used the right IP address. I thought it was not possible in the v0.3.5.1
Ok the Solution was easier than I could expect. Since I was so used to connecting from the host it didn’t occur to me to click “View virtual machine console and output“ in virtual manager.
So inside the emulator I could view the log in page and I continued from there.
You can certainly access StartOS from the IP address. Another thing all together to access the services on the same IP address. But StartOS itself, no problem.
