Clearnet lightning node - Is the self signed certificate an issue?

Hey if I run a clearnet node, will the self signed certificate be an issue? Because I guess every HTTPS connection will complain.

What about peers? If they want to use my node for connection / routing / payments and so on, is it an issue to have a self signed and not trusted (by a CA) cert an issue?

There is no clearnet LND or CLN on StartOS v0.3.5.1. This in effect answers your question fully… in a way.

If you’re asking about future versions of StartOS… you’d connect domains and use public certificates for your server or for services, like those issued by Let’s Encrypt, if and when SSL is a concern or need.

I really hope that the update comes soon, been waiting for almost a year by now.

But to enable clearnet: Core Lightning with Tor AND IPv4 clearnet

I’m just not sure if a lightning node requires a respected certificate of if the self signed one could somehow stand in the way.

You’re linking to a guide someone wrote, you can either ask them there or experiment with the guide (at your own risk) and learn the answer for yourself.

This is literally what I did: I went out and tried it and then came up with this question.

Also, this question is entirely unrelated to that guide, so I don’t get why I should ask there. But hey, we can also close this thread, if we shouldn’t ask questions here in the community.
