Hey,
I would like to install holesail (https://holesail.io/) on my start9 server and use it to connect to the services while travelling. Are there any concerns about doing this?
Peace
This is something that is not officially supported at this time. But you are in luck, the new version of StartOS 036 (Which is currently undergoing Alpha testing) will allow the use of Holesail along with many other networking configurations to allow diverse types of remote connections to your server.
Any updates on this? I am also interested in doing this.
Thanks
Thanks for sticking around and coming back to get some clarity on this.
StartOs has taken an even bigger step since the last time we posted here and the devs have taken the time to build out StartOS from the ground up, bringing with it more features that have been requested by many users as well as security upgrades and other goodies.
This has resulted in an entire redesign of the operating system and all associated packages for the Services as well, meaning that we have jumped past 036 and are now actively working on the release of 040 which brings with it the ability to make clearnet connections a lot easier for everyone who wants the functionality.
I am currently testing the alpha version of 040 and can promise that it truly is a work of art. We are just waiting to hear exactly when the public beta will start but it will definitely be announced via all Start9 Social Media channels once ready.
Very happy for this update. I have a few home miners and wanted to use them with datum and my node but wasn’t sure how the new OS would affect the use of simple proxy and the other commands needed to connect, so I never implemented the changes and just pointed the miners to ocean.
My question is, if I had implemented those changes would the new OS need me to undo those changes? and if not then would it be better to just go ahead and implement simple proxy and the other changes now, or just continue to wait for OS4.0?
