Connect to your Core Lightning node with ALBY

HI all, I’m struggling to get the Start9 Core Lightning node runing with the Alby extension on version 0.3.5 using Start9 | Alby Browser Extension

I input the info from the CLN but it seems there’s no such thing as a commando rune nor do I need Spark anymore.

The goal is to have Alby on my android phone and working as an app or extension on my Linux Mint local machine which will connect to my Start9 server on the same network.

Error in Alby Extension is: Connection failed. Is your Core Lightning node online and using the commando plugin? Promised response from onMessage listener went out of scope

I have able to generate a commando rune via terminal on my start9. I did remove the http:// from my .onion address in the HOST field on Alby extension but it’s still not connecting.

Try going through this guide. You can generate the rune from the GUI with actions unless you just prefer to use CLI. Did you get Tor set up and working on both clients?

https://docs.start9.com/0.3.5.x/user-manual/connecting-tor

I generated the commando rune with CLI on my start9. I and running my .onion addresses in Librewolf a firefox browser.

When you say both clients what do you mean? I have tor running in the background on my start9 and my local machine tor runs on boot.

Plus, unless I don’t understand, there’s no way I’ll be using a browser extension if I was using the TOR browser on my Linux Mint machine.

Oh Awesome I got it using the PEER INTERFACE from CLN Interfaces tab I hadn’t tried that one yet.

Now I need to figure out how to generate a Nostr Wallet Connect QR code to scan it with Alby Go on my android and I’ll be a happy camper. Again, I’m running Core Lightning on Start9 NOT LND

Both clients was referring to your Linux Mint and you Android Phone.

Glad you got it going. Not sure if Nostr Wallet connect will work with CLN. Maybe with some plugins or something I don’t know about. The StartOS version works with LND. But there are likely solutions you can find for using alby with CLN.

This might be helpful, though I didn’t read it all just found it in search GitHub - thesimplekid/cln-nostr-wallet-connect: Core lighting plugin for NIP47 nostr connect support

Using the Yandex browser on Android which installs Extensions I was able to connect to Alby Extension and use it like that.
