I am trying to connect the bitkey app to electrs on my start9 server (DIY) but says it only supports SSL port 50002, which doesn’t currently seem possible. Is this something that will be possible with the new 0.40 update? I did email bitkey about this issue and they said they will take it into consideration, but don’t know if anything can be done on my end personally or will be done from electrum/start9 side of things or even how that works. Thanks guys!
We’ve made some effort to accommodate preferred ports on v040, despite the fact that we’ll be working more heavily with ports and they really ought to be flexible. Bitkey’s failing here shouldn’t be a problem with v040 since electrs uses port 50002 there.
Thanks for much for the reply, StuPleb. I have a follow-up question: When you say Bitkey’s failing shouldn’t be a problem — does that include the SSL/TLS certificate piece, or just the port exposure? Specifically, will Bitkey’s mobile app be able to verify the certificate without the user needing a domain or Let’s Encrypt setup?
I mean them hard coding in 50002 will be fine, because we’re setting preferred ports for electrs. Even port forwarding, even with your own domain. I haven’t tested it though, so there could well be some other hidden issue to be uncovered.
