Connection failed: Socket error (socks host unreachable)

Getting the above error message when trying to reach my server pure via sparrow wallet. When Tor starts up it goes to this message. My address is correct…

When I test my connection I get the following :Could not connect: SOCKS: Host unreachable. Check if the proxy server is running. But I am not using a proxy?

  1. Connecting to Bitcoin Core

  2. Connection to Electrs

For the first, you have to be on your LAN. For the second, you have to be connected via Tor.

SOCKS: Host unreachable means you’ve tried to connect via Tor and failed, and at some stage you’ve missed something from the guide.

Please see the logs and memepool issues. I have tried restarting the service and rebuilding the system but that did not work. Ihave attached another jpeg by another
user below.

Just reinstalled Bitcoin core and got an error message below.

Unfortunately there’s nothing in these screenshots to go on, other than the OS logs telling us to look in the Bitcoin Core logs, which you haven’t provided. The error should be in there.

I’m not understanding the screenshots either… we have one of Bitcoin Core installed, then another of it failing to install, then a screenshot of someone else’s issue.

In your case, considering it looks like you haven’t really starting syncing… I would…

  1. Uninstall Bitcoin Core
  2. Restart the server regardless of any error
  3. Check no Bitcoin is installed
  4. Install Bitcoin

If it fails here, we’d need to look at logs a lot more closely, which means downloading them, more than screenshotting.

So I guess I need to make a backup and then delete Bitcoin core?

You wouldn’t need to backup Bitcoin Core for starting over, it would only have your config in it.

So I have to download the blockchain again? When you go to uninstall it tells you will lose all your data. If we think the data’s corrupt best to erase and start over?

If you’d like to follow my advice. Your screenshot of Mempool suggests Bitcoin is not synced in the first place, and other show that it failed to install. What are you trying to preserve if you have nothing to preserve based on the information provided?
