CPU Fan not ramping up when system heats up

Hi
I’m Running StartOS on a HP EliteDesk 800 G2 mini, 8GB Ram, 2TB M.2
I have installed Bitcoin Core, Electrs and Sparrow wallet and all apps are working fine.

Most of the time, the system temperature sits around 47degC. Other times it can get as high as 79-83degC depending on CPU load. At no time does the CPU fan ever ramp up to try to get the temperature back down.

  • How does StartOS manage the system temperature?
  • Is there a setting to turn on or adjust to help with this.?
  • This StartOS release states a fix (Revert perpetual performance mode for quieter fan). Is this related to my issue?

The Linux kernel and your firmware handle the fan. You might want to verify in BIOS if something is configured to keep the far turned off. If not, you may want to look on ebay for a new fan.
