Hello. Relatively new to the forum and Start9. Please forgive my naivety. Inquiry is regarding the use of this dashboard for Datum. Is there any risk in using this specific program with your bitcoin mining? For example, could Bitcoin that is mined be stolen? Or personal data be stolen? And this inquiry is not just for DeepSea Dashboard but also for all programs in the Start9 Community Registry. Just want to be careful. Please, community creators, forgive my naivety.
This is the beauty of running your own server, you’re not trusting your miner and node with a third party. You’re actually in control of the services you run, locally.
So no, the software itself isn’t a risk. Any of the supported services inside the Start9 registry is built and tested by us. All packages are open source and you’re welcome to audit it as you see fit. You can find the code repositories in the “Additional info” section of each app.
Now, whatever services we can provide doesn’t protect anyone without good operational security. For example, keeping a wallet seed phrase in a Google Doc is akin writing your work laptop password on a sticky note attached to said laptop, just don’t do it. Things like that.
