Dual Boot Server Install - NucBoxG9

Hoping someone can advise.

  1. Has anyone installed onto this device - NucBoxG9? If so, is there a reference guide you can help direct me to?
  2. If no, then this seems like the ideal mini-pc to run a Start 9 server on, and yet it’s not installing the StartOS

Here is what I’ve tried so far:

  1. Booted up out of box into Windows 11 and set it up since I wanted to install over the Windows 2Gig SSD
  2. Used balenaEtcher to install the free then the non-free StartOS files onto my USB drive and neither work.
    [startos-0.3.5.1-39de098_x86_64-nonfree.iso]
    [startos-0.3.5.1-39de098_x86_64.iso]

Both start the install process fine but eventually error out (see attached pics 1 & 2)

  1. Question: Is it possible to boot into the Ubuntu drive and install the StartOS on the SSD Drive from there? (see attached pic) There should be a way as this would seem ideal

Any advice or consult is welcome and appreciated.
Also, please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Adam

Yes, you should be using the non-free image for most x86_64 hardware. On newer system we are increasingly seeing issues with StartOS 0.3.5 missing the graphic driver. It looks like that is what you are running into. The soon to be in beta StartOS 0.4.0 likely solves this issue. In the meantime, you can try the headless install method described here:

The gist of it is, if you don’t connect a monitor the the display driver is not needed. But you have to prep the system first.
