Electrs is not running since I upgraded to Pop_OS Cosmic

recently upgraded OS to Cosmic on Sys72 machine. everything running ok cept electrs. It keeps saying “stopping..” I can’t find out the issue so am wondering if best to uninstall and re-install? if so, anything need to be careful of? appreciate the help.

If you uninstall, and reinstall electRS that will invalidate it’s addresses, and you’ll need to reconfigure any wallets you have connecting to it. It will also take a long time to re-index. Probably best to troubleshoot the issue rather, and reinstall only as more of a last resort. Checking the service’s log for errors is a good place to start. But a simple reboot of the server right get you back up and running.

System>Restart

Rexter, thanks for that. It turns out that I can’t even sys/restart. I get a Error:Gateway Timeout message. while in the lower left, the word ‘connecting…” just runs forever.
Since updated to Cosmic on my Sys76 machine, I have not been able to log in with Brave but can atleast get a services page on Firefox. maybe a sys rebuild is in order?

Any more advice is appreciated.

The message means your browser cannot communicate properly with the server. There are a few things in you circumstance that point to the problem not being the server at all. If you can connect to the server via Firefox, use it to restart the server, but then let’s shift the focus away from the server. We need to work on why Brave, on your recently updated POPOS, is not working properly.

Please restart the POPOS machine, and we’ll go from there. I suspect avahi is not working correctly, which is how you resolve .local addresses.

ok, restarted Pop and also hooked up ethernet cable. tried star can’t connectt9 in firefox and its just spinning, can’t connect

voila, its running on firefox now! I went through a video on start9 and wondered if firefox is set up fully. I went to the manual and read the part about “System CA Trust Module” and I didn’t see it on left side menu. so I added it as per the docs and everythin is now running on firefox.

I will mess with the setting in Brave a little later but atleast now I can download transactions into Coin ledger to get my taxes in on-time.

Rexter, thanks for being there during the stressful times, especially since my linux skills are rudimentary.

Cheers,
James
