Electrs + Knots + BIP 110

Ever since I upgraded to BIP 110, I can no longer get Electrs to work. I bought my Start 9 like 2+ years ago, or so, and I have not had many issues which has led to very little time spent here, so I apologize for being a noob. I searched around, but I could not find something specifically discussing this. Basically this is what happened. At some point in the recent months, I changed from Core to Knots. Everything was fine. Then a few weeks ago I wanted to run BIP 110. What a mess that was as I ended up deleting my blockchain and having to resync. I also had to uinstall and then reinstall Electrs & Mempool (I dont really need this). Anyway, I thought I had everything back up and running and then I finally needed to connect my wallet to get a receive address to move some coin over. Well, I copied the Quick Connect URL from Electrs and could never get Trezor Suite to connect again. I had no problem before. I think the issue is unrelated to TS. I cannot open my Electrs .onion address in Tor browser and I see this error all over my Tor logs on my Start OS:

Closed 1 streams for service [scrubbed].onion for reason resolve failed. Fetch status: No more HSDir available to query.

I have tried a whole slew of things hoping to fix this and no luck yet.

Oh, also (not sure if this helps explain anything but) - LAN Address shows N/A in electrs Interfaces.

I can’t quite pick out a specific question that you’re asking here. It takes just a few seconds to reinstall Knots or Knots+110 over the top of Knots or Core, without needing to uninstall or wipe the chain.

Any uninstalling and newly installing means new/different RPC passwords on Bitcoin, which means services that connect to Bitcoin need to have their configs saved again.

The logs you show is not an error.

It makes sense that if you reinstall Electrs you’d have to reconnected wallets.

It doesn’t make sense that you’d try to open Electrs in Tor Browser. It doesn’t have an interface that can be opened.

If you’re connecting wallets correctly, by following our guides, and you’re resetting tor to make sure that’s not a factor, then there’s no reason why things wouldn’t work.

I’m sorry. I guess my basic question is, “how do I get Electrs to work again after changing to BIP 110?” I may be missing something or the order might not be 100% correct since I have done some things multiple times, but essentially, I did the following:

  • installed / switched to BIP 110 from a different Knots version (resulted in redownloading the entire btc blockchain)
  • uninstalled / reinstalled Electrs
  • reset Tor and wiped state
  • copied the Quick Connect URL from Electrs to Trezor Suite to use my wallet

At multiple points I have gone into electrs and knots/bip 110 and clicked save on the properties (without changing anything). I’ve rebooted the system multiples times. I assumed the HSDir logs were errors - they appear constantly when electrs is running and stop when electrs is stopped. My StartOS .onion address works fine in Tor Browser, but the electrs .onion address (just testing if it’s reachable at all) times out.

I just need my wallet to be able to connect to electrs again.
