Error removing disk

I installed StartOS on an m.2 drive and installed Bitcoin Core and after a short sync I turned off the machine and removed the m.2 to then connect it externally to a Linux and look at the partitions it created, then I reconnected it and when I started it I got an error and it didn’t start so I had to reinstall StartOS again.
My question is if the disk can’t be removed from the PC where it was installed and moved to another one or also if StartOS can’t be used as an externally connected drive?

Taking advantage of the post I also have another question:
In what folder is the blockchain saved?

StartOS will typically take one disk and create two partitions on it… one for the OS and one for the data. That is if a separate physical drive wasn’t provided for the OS.

Yes, you can typically pull a drive from one machine and have it work in another, it would just boot. Connecting it to another computer, mounting it and manipulating it in any way may or may not do something to those partitions.

Finally, the directory you’re looking for is this one…
/embassy-data/package-data/volumes/bitcoind/data/main/

Thanks again for your attention and understanding, it must have been a one-off error that happened to me.
Currently the OS is on an m.2 inside a NUC, can I use it externally? connecting it as if it were an external drive?
Regards

Yes, if you plug it into another machine via USB, you should be able to boot from it. Whether this works would depended on the drivers being available for the other machine, and the USB adapter. But it should work.

Hello, I’m back to the post because the same thing happened to me again and now I’ve gathered a little more information.
I installed Start9 on a NUC i7 and with a 2TB m.2 ssd the OS (Startos-0.3.5.1-39de098_x86_64-nonfree.iso ) and the data all on the same disk, I inserted the m.2 ssd into the slot inside the NUC and installed Bitcoin Core and several services, it worked perfectly and I turned it off correctly.
I took the disk out of the NUC to insert Ubuntu and run it, then I reinserted the Start9 disk and I get this message:

Checking Media Presence……
Media Presence……
Start PXE over IPv4 on MAC: 1C-69-7A-A1-C5-A3.
(it changes later and says the same thing with IPv6)
A bootable device has not been detected.

The first time I installed it, when I removed it, the same thing happened and what I did was reinstall the OS and start again, but now it bothers me more since I have the blockchain downloaded.
I would like to use Start9 all on one disk.
I have read something on the forum and they have references, however I ask in the post so they have some idea why this error occurs.
https://docs.start9.com/0.3.5.x/misc-guides/attach-drive#attach-drive
It may be a disk problem, the disk is a Kingston KC3000 2tb and I have installed the same version of the OS on the same machine, a Crucial brand disk and after installing everything on a drive, I added an application from merkaplace, turned it off and took it out and put it back in the drive and it worked without a problem, what didn’t work for me was connecting it as an external drive and trying to boot with it gives me an error but when I reinserted it in the NUC it boots perfectly.
Should I install the other ISO of the OS?

I’m not understanding why you are connecting the disk via USB to Ubuntu to “run” it. What do you hope to achieve here?

I think I can answer your later question… if a moved disk doesn’t work in any way, yes, you can safely reinstall StartOS on it and choose to Use Existing Disk at the relevant steps to preserve the data. Of course, this would require that disk to have the two partitions already… you can’t resize partitions or create new ones here.

I think it’s a firmware error, when the OS loads, one of the messages appears:

And when it turns off, this other one appears:

If I change the disk in the NUC and run the NUC with a different disk, even though it’s the other installation I did of Start9 on another disk, it doesn’t recognize it

Now I have reinstalled the system on the two disks that I’m using with Start9 and I have connected them as an external drive and now they work without having to reinstall the OS every time I connect them, but the messages continue to appear the same, so I comment that it may be something with the Firmware (I have it updated to the latest version that Intel puts for this computer).
I suppose that if it continues to work externally, for the moment the problem is solved.

After a few hours of turning off the NUC, when I start it up the same error occurs again and it does not recognize the disk with the OS and the data, so I have to reinstall the OS to work with it. As I see that it must be a problem with my machine with the Start9 OS, I don’t think they can solve it for me. I will wait for a new version of the OS to see if it solves it.
Normally I change the disk in the NUC many times from one with a Windows system to others with various Linux OS and I have never had any problems.
StartOs excites me and I thank you for the attention given.
Kind regards.
