Error when launching start.local

Hi, I am looking to setup my bitcoin node.
Hi,

When I go to HTTP://start.local, I get the following error message. I am looking to setup my bitcoin node. What can I do to resolve this error message? I have already checked that my start9 is being seen by my Xfinity router. Power is connected.

RPC ERROR: WiFi Internal Error wlp1s0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device

Hi!

I’m curious if you had set this up before, or is this the first time you went to set it up and received this error?

You can try simply try flashing StartOS v0351 x86_64.iso following this guide:
https://docs.start9.com/0.3.5.x/flashing-guides/os-x86

In theory that should work but in the past when I ran into this issue, I actually had to wipe all partitions from the disk and start completely fresh, then it worked.

If the problem persists even after you do the reflash in the guide above, you may have to start completely fresh by either

  1. booting a different linux iso containing a disk utility (such as Debian live) and booting that to the debian live deskop, where the disk utility would then allow you to wipe all partitions from the nvme and then create a new partition (formatted w/ an ext4 or exfat filesystem).

OR, if you don’t feel capable of burning and booting a linux ISO,

  1. remove the m.2 SSD from the Server, place it in some type of USB-connectable enclosure, and connect it to another desktop or laptop you have available via USB, and use your favorite disk utility to do the same thing mentioned above: wipe all partitions, then write a new partion.

Once the disk has one large new partition, it you should be able to follow the flashing guide linked at the top of my post.
Once you’ve booted the StartOS x86_64.iso-burnt USB thumb drive, you can visit http://start.local and choose the internal SSD and then pick “Install StartOS”.
It will then ask you to remove the USB thumb drive and reboot, whereupon it will then boot StartOS from the disk into setup mode.

Visit http://start.local once again and finish the setup by picking Start Fresh.

I did not set this up before, I setup earlier today prior to me posting. It asked me for a password after that it just got stuck with that error message. I will try flashing the ISO.

I had a similar issue and the problem came from my browser. I use Brave , I don’t know about you. But basically, if you have the same issue as I did and I believe it’s quite common, you need to authorise connection to local servers in the security settings of your browser. Let us know how you get on!

@minebtc RPC ERROR: WiFi Internal Error wlp1s0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device is not an error that is caused by your browser, but any number of similar looking errors can be.

@kkvegan like George, the couple of times I’ve seen this, even though it makes no sense, reflashing seemed to work. Pretty sure it was just a simple “Use Existing Data” we did, since in the case I was dealing with the user had set up there Server Pure some time ago.
