I have followed the instructions two separate times on performing a factory reset as detailed on the main website. Both times, I perform a flash of my Start9 Pure Server. But, whenever return to the START PAGE (start.local and/or IP address of server), I am never given an option to START FRESH. Can someone please help, guide, and or direct me how to accomplish this task? I am actually wanting to sell the server (I have deleted every program on the server) and make sure the next user receives it in as close to new condition as possible.
So what do you see instead? Knowing that might tell us what went wrong.
For passing on to the next owner, you’d go through just the flashing stage, not the reset stage. Basically, you’d create the USB, work through that guide, then when it tells you to remove the USB and restart the server, you’d remove the USB and instead power off.
It just gives me an option to login. I’ve changed the password for the next user. I’ve even removed the trust certificates and reinstalled them on my device used to login to the server.
So, in summary, it only gives me an option to login. Nothing about a “START FRESH” option presented upon reboot.
You either boot from the USB drive you attached, or you don’t. You need to boot from the drive you create with Balena Etcher. To do that, you have to use the right image, you have to have to correctly flash the USB and you have to power off the server, plug in the USB to one of the blue ports, then power on again.
A login screen suggests none or one of the things above happened.
You would be correct. I did download the zip file and pressed the escape button and flashed the ROM/BIOS. But, I never used BALENA ETCHER. So, in summary, what step did I miss? I followed the guide listed on the Start9 website and did everything it said to do. Or at least I thought I did. What is my missing step? If I was able to flash the BIOS/ROM, what did I do wrong? And how do I attain the etching program?
There is no zip file for a Server Pure. Please look carefully at what the guides tell you to download for different devices. The guide also does not ask you to flash the firmware.
