Filesystem I/O Error: File exists (os error 17)

After trying to update Alby Hub my server has been performing terrible and Bitcoin Knots will not start. I uninstalled Knots and tried restoring from backup. No luck. Then tried reinstalling completely and now I get this error, “Failed: Filesystem I/O Error: File Exists (os error 17)”. I was also receiving an error when trying to save Knots Config. See attached Notifications. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have not tried to Rebuild my system yet.

Thanks,
Justin

This likely need just a basic server restart from System → Restart. But a System Rebuild (same location) should set things right otherwise.

Thank you. Since the Alby update attempt my server restarts sometimes. Half the time it fails in "emergency " mode. I’ll try the rebuild. Restarting has not helped.

System rebuild did not work.

Clarify me, what problem are we trying to solve. In your screen above we have install/uninstall issues (restart/rebuild should fix) and entirely separately we have some kind of issue where the server is restarting over and over?

I was trying to reinstall Knots after it crashed. That was the main problem. I was able to get that fixed with chatgpt help. I deleted/cleared out all the files related to bitcoind on my drive. Then I was able to reinstall knots and it is currently downloading the blockchain. The restart/rebuild did not work in this situation.

Regarding the server. When I restart the server it times out during a “mounting” message in the top left of my screen. I dont have a screen shot of this message. I then power it off and try again. Sometimes it starts up and others it times out. Sorry I am not technical and have very limited knowledge on these things. If you have any recommendations on this issue it would be appreciated. If not you can close out this help request.

Thanks.

It sounds to me that chatgpt has lead you down a path to significant damage to your server. This is common. If you’d like to DM your OS logs to me, I can take a look. We can figure out which way to go from where you are.

Thanks. To be fair the problems were there before using chatgpt. It started after i updated Alby Hub. Chatgpt helped get knots working again. I can try sending you the logs when I get back to the server. I appreciate the help.

I understand. But you’re likely in a very different place now, with a very different problem.
