Firefox ESR v115 update to v140

Will Start9 be updating to this? I don’t see an option to do it manually.

You can use many different browsers to connect to your Start9 Server, so I’m not sure why you want this specific update.

What exactly is it that you are trying to do that you are not able to achieve?

I run a DIY server and the native browser is Firefox ESR v115. I’m aware you can connect to the server in almost any browser but the installed boot browser has an update and I’m just wondering if it’ll be updated to this new version or not.

Your basic query is asking about why v0.3.5.1 does not have the latest software (Firefox esr v140) vs what Firefox ESR currently on in 0.3.5.1: v115.

Version v0.3.5.1 of StartOS will never update to any new software. A new version of StartOS will be released at some point called v0.4.0, which all StartOS servers will be offered, which will have all the latest updates from the latest debian 13 distro (Trixie) at the time it is released.

So, yes, Start9 will be updating to the latest version of firefox-esr when StartOS v040 is released.

Just to add further clarification, servers are meant to run headless - without mouse monitor and keyboard. Should you connect a monitor for the sake of testing or troubleshooting, StartOS will detect that on boot, and will boot into kiosk mode. This includes loading of the browser so you can access the gui of the server. This is a troubleshooting tool, and is not meant for any other purpose. It’s s not meant to run for extended periods of time. It’s certainly not meant for general web surfing. Therefore it’s of very low importance what version, as long as you can access the server’s gui for troubleshooting.
