I’ve been trying to install FreeGPT-2 on my Start9 server and it crashes StartOS every single time at the same point. Hoping someone can help.
My setup:
StartOS version: 0.3.5~1
RAM: 64GB
Storage: large capacity, plenty of free space
Network: ethernet directly into asus extender router
Server LAN address: tasty-coconut.local
What happens:
Every install attempt gets to the “Unpacking Docker Images” stage and then crashes the entire server (full restart). This has happened across multiple attempts on March 19, 20 and 21. Earlier attempts were stalling at 99%, now crashing at around 4%.
What I found in the logs:
The install consistently gets to this point and then StartOS restarts:
There is also a partial install sitting on the server at:
/embassy-data/package-data/public/free-gpt/2.01110.0630/
This partial data is not showing up in the Services dashboard and I cannot uninstall it from the UI.
I also noticed repeated Tor health check failures and a “No route to host (os error 113)” error on port 443 in the logs, though I’m not sure if these are related.
Questions:
Is there a known issue with this version crashing on Docker image unpack?
How do I safely remove the partial install data from /embassy-data/package-data/public/free-gpt/ ?
I don’t recall ever hearing about a known issue with the install failing on Docker image unpack. I suggest you do a system rebuild. System → Power → System Rebuild. This will not impact any of your data, but will rebuild all teh service containers. That might clear up your issue.
When you do this, it will give you an estimated time. It might be a while. Last time I did this, the estimate was over an hour and it took a bit longer IIRC. Be very patient. Maybe do it before bed and then check it in the morning…
Sorry I did another system rebuild and we are all resolved. Have you got any advice regarding this FreeGPT install? Have plenty of people successfully installed it?
There’s no known issues where installing a service can crash a server. StartOS itself isn’t dependent on services installing or running correctly. Services would crash, rather than StartOS.
I’ve be interested to know if you could repeat this after the rebuild succeeded.
