I am in the process of waiting for another wallet to arrive and then will be creating a multisig wallet. I am seeing people with all sorts of issue upgrading and therefore I will not be upgrading any time soon. I have another copy of core on a SSD drive but do not want to lose my server pure. I assume i am ok for the next month or two until things settle down on your end?
The services are rapidly becoming out of date on 0.3.5.1 So upgrading as soon as possible is recommended.
Yes, I agree. I am not interested in fighting this update all afternoon.
I would imagine a large number of their users are in the process of moving wallets over to multisig. The last thing they need to do to their user base is to hasten an upgrade to a system that quite frankly was working perfectly. Start9 management please think about what you are doing.
I don’t think any of these are related to updating to 0.4.0.
The vast majority of problems people are reporting with the 0.4.0 update is a simple failure to follow the instructions. This is a sensitive update, and people miss things. That’s perfectly understandable. We are happy to walk people through any issues that arise.
I think the key is to first read through the instruction in their entirely before you begin. Then proceed one step at a time. If something goes wrong, or looks off, stop there and ask for help. Going down, out of scope, rabbit holes, or following instructions from general purpose AI, leads to much more complex problems for us to help you solve.
Depending on the services you run, and the amount of data you have, the update can take a very long time. It doesn’t necessarily require a lot of screen time by you, but plan on the server being down for at least a few hours.
Ok just upgraded and all is well. I do not see Syncthing on either marketplace. I guess they have not completed an update for the new OS?
What hardware are you running your server on? I had some issues with a Pi but since upgrading to a Mini PC/AMD Ryzen 5 over a year ago have had zero issues. The upgrade was just pressing a button. I think a lot of issues arise from the hardware being used.
i am using a start9 server. But I upgraded and all is well now.
No one has packaged Syncthing for 0.4.0. The last time the 0.3.5.1 package was updated was over 2 years go. Maybe someone will scratch their own itch and do so… hint hint…
I just updated from 0.3.5.1 to 0.4.1 (via flash) and the whole process went smoothly and quickly. I think the entire update took 20 minutes or less.
I have a Server Pure…my upgrade went very smooth but they could have made the instructions a little better. I thought was failing until I started attempted to contact my server’s IP address and I was asked for my password. But I am liking the new system.
We are definitely open to suggestions for improving the documentation. But also, it’s not expected that you would have to use the IP address during the upgrade process. If you recall, I’d like to know what step in the process you were on, when you had to use your IP address to access the server.
Having said that, it is expected and documented, that your server will be at start.local during the update process. This is one of the reasons we recommend the USB flash update rather than the over the air update. When doing the update via USB, one would already be on start.local from the beginning.
