Trying to run 2 seperate nodes on different PC’s behind 1 public IP addres so need to change the PEERS port on one of the machines. I change it to 8335 in the bitcoin.conf file, but when the service starts it changes it back to 8333. Where can I make the change permenant please? I’m not a Unix expert, just bumblight through but any help appreciated.
Your Bitcoin services aren’t exposed over clearnet (not exactly) and you don’t need to forward 8335 from your router to your nodes to get peers. Your peer interface is over Tor, and you connect to peers through NAT hole punching. You don’t (and can’t) do any of what you’re posting about.
Ahh, interesting, thank you.
So I can basically run both nodes on 2 seperate machines behind the same router (with a single external IP address from my ISP) and no need to forward any ports to the BTC nodes at all? I’m I understanding you correctly?
Thanks for the reply, appreciate it.
Correct… I’m currently running 6 nodes, on and off, behind one IP with no port forwarding to any.
Thanks again for your help.
