Installing Bitcoin Knots

If I install Bitcoin Knots, does it run in parrallel with Bitcoin Core?

Installed it and answered my own question. It replaces Bitcoin Core.

Correct. You you need to roll back, you’d downgrade to a previous version. All a bit hacky right now, but we have plans for better integration from v0.3.6 onwards.

Can you please explain, step by step, how you do this? I am trying to install Knots in order to run Datum. When I go to Bitcoin Knots on the Community registry, it says “Installed”, and when I click it, it sends me to Bitcoin Core. What are the steps to roll-back/downgarde?

If you already have Core installed, to install Knots you should:

  1. In the StartOS System tab, click the “Manage” heading 5+ times to enable developer mode.

  2. Click “Reinstall” on Knots in the Community Registry.

  3. If you get a notification claiming the install failed. Don’t worry, it succeeded. You just need to open Knots config and click “Save”.

Knots is now installed instead of Core. There no need to resync, and all dependent services should be happy.

In StartOS 0.3.6 this will all be unnecessary, and the process of switching between Bitcoin implementations will be streamlined.
