I currently have StartOS installed on a Raspberry Pi 4 8GB and want to upgrade to something beefier. I am considering a Dell Optiplex 3070 micro from Dell Referbished. In researching this model, I see it has an internal SATA drive and an NVMe M.2 slot. Can I run this just on an NVMe drive and not install a SATA drive, or is it beneficial to install both drives, perhaps using a SATA SSD as a backup drive?
Hello there! You can use just an NVMe M.2 drive without any problem. When you choose to do so, you will have your StartOS and service data on the same drive. If you prefer, you can add a second drive and use it for backup or to separate StartOS from Data. Personally, I would just get one M.2 SSD and make backups on a NAS. I hope it helps.
