Has anyone here successfully connected their Jellyfin to Swiftfin app on Apple TV? I have been trying endlessly to find a solution. Constantly I encounter the certificate not trusted error. I was able to upload the .crt file to Apple TV via the hidden profiles menu, but it will still not trust the certificate. I have tried variations of http/https, IP, private domains. I realize Apple TV/Swiftfin cannot resolve .local addresses so I have avoided that.
Has anyone had sucess? I am beginning to think this is an impossible task, but hopefully someone out there has found a way!
Hi @Bender5678434, some thoughts that may be helpful: the most common cause of this is that the certificate profile got installed but never actually trusted - those are two separate steps on tvOS. After uploading the .crt, go to Settings > General > About > Certificate Trust Settings on the Apple TV itself and make sure full trust is toggled on for your Root CA; without that step, Apple TV will show the profile as installed but still reject it. Double-check too that the file you uploaded is the Root CA .crt from your server (System > Root CA) and not some other certificate. It’s worth re-downloading the Root CA fresh and re-doing the profile install, since a corrupted or wrong cert would produce exactly this symptom across every connection method you’ve tried (IP, private domain, http/https).
Dude, thank you. I’ve been down so many AI rabbit hole conversations, and at one point I asked if this menu existed and it said it did not. I feel like Clark Griswold and the Christmas lights coming down to one switch in the garage. Thank you. Up and running now!
