Datum Gateway to run a miner works only with Knots 28. I see only Knots 29 available. How do I download Knots 28?
First download latest Datum Gatway then Latest Knots. once done you might need to restart your miner
And even if it does complain while you update your Datum to the latest version, it will most likely still work.
Why does Datum need Knots? May Datum work with Bitcoin Core in a future update or is there a feud there I’m not aware of?

From a technical standpoint, this may be better answered by the Datum team, but here’s my understanding:
Datum can talk to any Bitcoin node that implements the GBT (getblocktemplate) RPC, which includes Bitcoin Core. However, the Datum documentation advises using Bitcoin Knots, instead of Core, because Core offers far fewer template‑control options, making it “severely lacking” for Datum’s goals. The Datum package for StartOS was created specifically with these recommendations in mind. One could fork the package to make it work with Core, but it would not function fully as intended with Core’s limitations. Therefore, there is no plan to package a future StartOS version of Datum, configured to work with Core.
