Should we make a new “Known Good Hardware Master List” for v0.4.0?
The original list started in 2022. Not sure if any of the pieces of hardware on that list are meaningfully obsoleted by the update.

Can it be assumed that almost all machines compatible with 0.3.5.1 will also work with 0.4.0?
Probably, but also most of the computers on the old list barely or no longer exist. So perhaps the new list should be for “2026” rather than v040?

0.4.0 running well on Mac mini “Core i5” 2.5 (Late 2012) upgraded c 16gb ram and 2tb ssd

I have successfully installed v0.4.0-beta.9-nonfree on my MyNode Model Two Intelx86_64 with 8GB RAM 2TB SSD Storage.
I successfully installed StartOS 0.4.0.1 on a current-generation System76 Meerkat (meer10).
Hardware configuration:
- System76 Meerkat (
meer10) - Intel Core Ultra 7 255H — 16 cores
- 96 GB DDR5-5600 RAM
- 8 TB WD_BLACK SN850X NVMe SSD
- Intel I226-V 2.5 GbE Ethernet
- Built-in Intel WiFi 7 / Bluetooth 5.4 hardware
- Single internal NVMe configuration; no expansion card installed
The installation used the StartOS 0.4.0.1 x86_64/AMD64 Standard image.
I installed StartOS headless over wired Ethernet, which worked without issue. The installer detected the internal 8 TB NVMe and wired Ethernet interface normally, and I did not need any unusual post-install workarounds.
One compatibility note for anyone planning to run a similar build over WiFi: the Intel WiFi 7 adapter is detected by the kernel as an Intel BE201 320 MHz device (8086:7740), and the iwlwifi driver loads, but StartOS 0.4.0.1 does not currently include a suitable firmware blob for this revision. As a result, StartOS shows “No wireless interface detected.”
