Limit number of inbound

Is there any way I can limit number of inbound to 0 ?

I tried to put 11 here …but it goes to 40 by default overwriting my change

You can’t force people to connect to you, but you can make it easy to do so by opening up more avenues. Clearnet, I2P etc.

quite opposite. I wanted to limit inbound to 0. is there a way to do that ?

Sorry I completely misread having answered the question I thought you asked a million times.

There is an option for it in bitcoin.conf but I it hasn’t been exposed in because you’re probably the first who hasn’t wanted to participate in the network in that way.

it is my understanding you cannot easily modify bitcoin.conf file unless you SSH into the server correct ? I know it was possible when I used Bitcoin Core in Windows …not sure how to do that once I run Start9.

You can yes. You’d SSH into your server, then enter into the Bitcoin container, then edit the conf file. How to SSH in and how to enter into containers is covered in our 040 documentation. Different services behave in different ways though, some honoring the change across restarts, others not. It’s why we don’t exactly recommend it.

If you can justify an option existing in the Bitcoin Core config for listen=0, you could also post a request here: Issues · Start9Labs/bitcoin-core-startos · GitHub

having open port 8333 and not having too much knowledge about network security …just dont want to wake up to all my files being encrypted one morning…so I guess blocking port 8333 on my router is a way to solve that
