I been running Start9OS for some time, and I really am grateful for a good OS.
To big challenge I have had is getting Bitwarden to work over time on my devices, via Tor to Vaultwarden. Last year I have only used Tor Browser on my mobile and logged in via the .onion webpage. I am looking forward to a better solution in v040.
So now i installed a clean v040. And want to test it with Vaultwarden.
Step buy step, How do I copy my Vaults and users from v0351 and into v040?
I have been trying to find answers online, but it goes over my head, and I want to do it right the first time, so I do not mess up my passwords, and the new installation.
They write “To back up Vaultwarden, you should back up the entire data directory, which includes important files like the SQLite database and any attachments.“
How can I do that? Do I have access to copy a directory on StartOS?
Will also the user accounts and different Vaults/organizations be included?
Would be great if there is someone the know how to do this that could help.
Thankful.
Also, how do I connect the Bitwarden apps to my v040 Vaultwarden, now that Tor is gone… Is there a guide??
The link you provided will take you to the 0.4.0 docs. If you would like to participate in the public beta, we appreciate you. Be sure to run a backup of your existing server, before upgrading it. That way, worst case, you can recover your vault to 0.3.5.
Please follow the guides exactly and carefully. If you improvise, the chance of failure will be much higher, and data loss might occur.
Nice i copied the link to the 0.3.5 documents, and just removed it in this post! Still funny to me, that I provided the link I asked for!
I am already running an instance of 0.4.0 beta 5. And it is a Clean install, so that is the one I want to test Vaultwarden on. But I am not updating the main 0.3.5.1 before 0.4.0 is out of beta.
So my question is still… how can I move my Vaultwarden vaults. I can see in the web interface of Vaultwarden there is a Backup and Restore option, but this will not include the user account i think…
I’m not sure I understand. Do you have a bunch of profiles, or accounts in Vaultwarden that you want to bulk migrate without migrating the whole service?
Usually the export, from the old, and import to the new is the way to go.
OK. I have exported and imported the .json, work great. But my attatchment are not part of that file. So I exported it as a .ZIP to get the attatchments. So I have them in a folder… But how do I import them in the new Vaultwarden installation.
I don’t believe there’s a way to have Vaultwarden automagically know where those attachments came from and re-add them there. This would need to be done manually.
This is all just for testing though right. When you upgrade your 0.3.5.1 machine, all of your Vaultwarden data be intact, and you won’t need to do any manual importing.
No, I am changeing HW. So the new HW now run 0.4.0. beta9. Will a StartOS Backup keep the attachments, so that I can save a backup of the OLD HW when it is updatet to 0.4.0, and restore it on the new HW with correct attachments?
I find it stange that there is a Export function in Vaultwarden that include attachments, but not an Import function. Backing up your vault · dani-garcia/vaultwarden Wiki · GitHub
Here it talks about the structure of the data folder, and how to back it up.
The folder in the ZIP file was named attachment and it has folder for each fil with th uuid nr. Can I just somehow copy this folder into the data folder on the new HW?
