No access to external ssd usb drive(s)

Gentlemen,

I am on a Pi5-8Gb, internal nvme 2Gb, with 0.4.0 running smoothly. Today I tried to figure out the backup options Start9 offers. Well, my drive(s) do not show up. Then I installed the webtop filemanager Thunar. Same output - no drives detected. Guess it is not mounted but don’t know how to do it properly - I mean don’t like to mess things up.

Putting my test drives in my WIN10 PC - all good…

Please help.

Cheers Yugi

You are running a DIY server, with 0.4.0 which is Alpha software. Where / how did you install webtop filemanager Thunar? on the DIY Server?

I suggest you start with confirming you are following the create backup guide: Start9 | Backup Create

The guide will walk you through backing up your data either to a physical drive plugged into the server, or over-the-network to a network folder shared from another device on the same LAN.

Hello,

My start9-registry as well as the community-registry were empty after fresh install of start9 0.4. I headed over to: https://alpha-registry-x.start9.com. There I found webtop-a linux desktop…

In the meantime my usb problem is solved. I formated to ext4 but there was a tiny partition as well. After formating again from cli all is good.

Thx and greetz

Great to hear that your USB problem is solved!!!

When looking at the Alpha registry from your 040 Alpha server - be aware that any service name that includes (Legacy) means that the service package has not been updated for 040 yet. It may still work, some do, but don’t be surprised if it doesn’t…

And of course this is all still alpha software…
