Optiplex 5040 No bootable devices found

Hello,

I’m trying to get some help with installing startOS on an Optiplex 5040.

It’s a 6th gen quad-core Intel processor. I’ve installed 32 GB of RAM and a new NVMe 3rd gen PCIe 2 TB hard drive.

I’ve disabled secure boot and set SATA operation to AHCI.

I’ve made sure the BIOS is up-to-date.

I’ve reflashed my USB four times in case that was the problem. Even rolled back one version of startOS but no dice. I’m for sure using the “non-free” version.

I feel like I’m missing one setting but for the life of me can’t figure out which one.

I realize this model isn’t on the compatibility list but trying to find help or do I need to return the M2 drive and memory that I specifically bought for this.

I’ve posted in the telegram chat but no luck there yet either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Looks like you’ve done everything right so far.

So the issue is specifically that you can’t boot from the installation media you flashed? I.e. your Optiplex 5040 isn’t recognizing the USB thumb drive? If so, have you tried other ports and other thumb drives?

Let’s keep this discussion in one place please.

Some people keep track of boards and not Telegram. I didn’t post the topic in 20 different places…just 2 in case someone knowledgeable only checks one spot and not the other.
