Hai searching for help…
Running the start 9 server with nextcloud installed. Locally everything works fine.
Now remote acces ( my Mac osx from the firm ), has problems.
I downloaded Nextcloud, installed it, and after installation , i must give a adres. I tried all kinds of adresses, but nothing works. Can someone tell me wich adres i need to fill in, and where i can find this adres…
Completely new in the start 9/ nextcloud/bitcoin core world, so hope someone can help me out here…
We may be working to different definitions of “locally”.
Locally would be accessing and using Nextcloud on your Mac, since this is on your Local Area Network, inside your home.
Remotely would be using Nextcloud from outside your home, perhaps from work, while travelling etc.
Additionally, the Nextcloud client app you installed isn’t you “using Nextcloud”, it’s a tool for keeping a directory on your laptop/desktop synced with the contents of your account on the server. This allows you to work on a copy of a document and have it upload (same as Google Drive, Dropbox etc)
Since Nextcloud is primarily a web-based application with a user interface accessed through the web browser, and all you need to do that is click a single launch button… I’m going to assume you’ve never set up your Mac to work with the server, never configured your server and perhaps are even using your server with a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Is that the case?
Thanks for the reply. So here is what I have done sofar. I installed Bitcoin core and nextcloud on my start 9 server. It is at home working together with my Mac. At home it works.
On my I phone I installed onion browser and
Orbot. They both work, but not together. When i use onion browser, the browser tells me it uses bridges ( which you can see in de screen when you are logged in , next to the address bar. ). I added my phone using my Mac at home with the nextcloud ( i added my phone, by scanning a QR code) and that worked. But that is all I did. Also on my I phone I am not able to connect to the server remotely ( it works at home in the same network ).
So i think the problem must be just the address I am using. I tried all kind of addresses, but incant figure out what I’m doing wrong. Do you know where I can Find the adres ? I found different addresses in the menu of nextcloud ( also one that said something like; if you want to connect to the server , use this adress), but still it is not working.
Do I also maybe have to “tell” my computer at home that I will add the computer from
My business ?)
Hope I gave you some idea where I am. Hahahahah. Hope you can be of some assistente
I think the simplest course of action would be to undo what you’ve done, and start over. Start with the device setup – make sure you’ve imported your server’s root CA into your phone:
Setup tor on the device for remote access to your server per the instructions as well.
Next, you can then setup Nextcloud access:
I recommend reading through the entire instructions fist, before you begin. Then follow the steps one at a time. If you get stuck, let us know what step in the guide, things don’t go as expected.
