I’m getting some failed messages, and when i reboot after flashing it doesn’t work.
I’m wondering if it could be a problem with the hardware and if I should return it and get a miniPC that is known to work with StartOS

Have you been following our DIY Documentation step by step? (Make 100% sure to follow it all the way without skipping any detail)
Also the version of StartOS you have used to flash is important. For DIY devices the usual recommendation is to use the x86_64-nonfree.iso image for trouble free performance.

It might also be worth taking a look at our [Known-Good Hardware Master List] Hardware Capable of Running StartOS to ensure that if you do need to get something different you can get something that is known to run StartOS properly.
This list is added to by members of the community doing DIY builds so is quite extensive, as it spans over a few years.
“getting some failed messages” is also not a detailed and helping descriptions of what you’re facing and there’s no way anyone can help or suggest anything.
