Question about flashing software on barebones PC

Hello

I plan on getting a knots node running using a Nuc 14 essential barebones mini pc. I have seen tutorials with people flashing StartOS on windows 11 but not with barebones pc.

Does start9 OS install directly onto a barebones mini pc without any pre installed OS?

How does this work if there are no ethernet drivers?

appreciate any feedback

StartOS is an OS. I’m not sure what you mean about no ethernet drivers. Why wouldn’t StartOS include ethernet drivers?

Anyway, here’s a guide:

What i mean is, a barebones pc has no ethernet drivers so i assumed StartOS wont connect to the internet. Was thinking i needed another OS to get the drivers and have both OS, my bad still new to this just had a relative advise on mini pc and parts list.

So a better question, if i have StartOS flashed via usb to my mini pc then it should already contain ethernet drivers on start OS to connect through ethernet?

thanks

A barebonese PC has no OS installed. Installing the OS would install the drivers. Thus, installing StartOS installs the drivers.

StartOS contains drivers of all kinds, for every component of the mini PC. Otherwise it wouldn’t work.

ah okay thanks, ill get onto it then.

Often a barebone PC has no RAM, or storage drive. So the PC may not function at all, until you add these components. I’d recommend at least 16GB or RAM, and a 2TD or 4TB SSD. You will need another computer handy, and a USB drive, to download and flash the StartOS ISO to, which you will used to boot and install on the Nuc.
