Removing (unmounting) a USB drive

Thank you for your help. How does a person remove (or unmount) a USB drive from a Start9 that is running?

You can just remove it from the USB port.

There is no unmount button for these as there is with a laptop/desktop.

Also worth asking what you mean by ā€œrunningā€. That it is plugged in? Or that is it writing?

Is this a backup drive?

In between backups, drives are unmounted, as Okin explains. Mid backup, or if your drive is an actual data driveā€¦ obviously donā€™t unplug it ever.

By ā€˜runningā€™, I just mean the Start9 system is on. These are backup drives, yes. I wait for the backups to complete.

OK great, yes, when thereā€™s no backup running the drives are not mounted.
