The error on your first image (Xorg) is the same log that appeared to me when i connected my mini pc to a screen. You should try to run the barebone only with the power supply and the RJ internet connector linked to it. Access from other PC connected to the same wifi, go to start.local on your browser, and then do the installation from there.
As well as disconnecting the monitor as the above comment correctly points out, you may also want to format that drive first and create at least one partition to avoid the other error.
For the drive in the diy box it should be ext4 if i format it, yes?
I’m moving from a vm and using an external samsung drive for the clone, what format should that be?
My vm lives on ntfs on windows 11?
got the clone vm on a drive and connected it up and on first boot of the barebones mini pc i saw both the usb and transfer drive connected. It asked to remove the usb after initial install and when i hit the transfer option it doesn’t see the drive now?
I’m going to change the transfer drive to exfFat and see if that changes things.
Same thing happened with exFAT
What should the file structure look like from the vmware clone?
It shows the file structure of vmware(.vmdk,.vmx, .vmfx, etc)
im sorry i kind of have two post for this merged.
Our friend here:
mentions something that might apply to you, since nothing is being recognized. He goes on to explain what to do. In the past I’ve mentioned just installing a commercial distro of linux on the drive, letting that be a simple GUI for creating a good healthy partition table and partition, then installing StartOS over top.
I’ll give it try in a bit.
Man I tried everything to copy out of the VM to a hard drive and could not get the transfer option on start9 to work. The last things I was trying was live CDs cloning and it still didn’t see the drive on transfer. I did mbr, gpt, clonezilla live and other lives to no avail. I then started editing partitions with part magic live to see if that would fix it, is didn’t. After three days I ended up erasing the mbr sector of the VM in VMware by accident in my struggle half asleep lol. At this point I’ve already set up a new diy mini PC with new address and ported over a back up. The BTC node downloaded in under 24 hours on barebone and took like 5-7days in pre allocated VM. Thanks y’all for your continued help and support.
