Sparrow Wallet Connection

Hi,
I am having trouble connecting Sparrow Wallet on a Macbook to my Start9 server using Electrs. I have done the following:

  1. Completed blockchain download
  2. Completed electrs indexing
  3. Trusted CA on my Macbook
  4. Inserted the RPC Hostname in the Properties tab of electrs into the Sparrow Server tab and selected Electrum Server to connect to.
  5. Inserted port 50001 into the same Sparrow Server page.

My preference would be to connect via only the LAN and not have to go through TOR, so I have tried to change the Hostname suffix to .local instead of .onion. However, that connection failed. I also tried the .onion suffix, and that failed as well.

First, I am wondering if it is possible to connect only via the LAN without using TOR, and if so, what is the right way to do that? I could not find any guides about that online. Second, if I do have to use TOR, what other troubleshooting steps can I take to make it work? Thank you in advance.

There’s no Electrs over LAN with .local - at least not yet, so it make sense that this does not work.

You can follow our guides to connect to Bitcoin Core over LAN instead:

https://docs.start9.com/0.3.5.x/service-guides/bitcoin/bitcoin-integrations#sparrow

Electrs would need both your server and your Sparrow client to have a stable TOR connection, which should be the case… but isn’t always. Also be sure to follow the guide I just linked for Electrs – I assume you’re not as you would ahve seen the LAN option.
