We don’t have a guide for Termius. Our guides really only cover using ssh from a terminal/cli. However, this medium article written by a community member, for Putty, might provide some clues that could be adapted to Termius. Let us know how it goes!
I am aware of those instructions I tried
my question is what is the user name to ssh in? Is it star9?
But what about tor adress of my node? Where do I find that info whe ssh in?
I was just using tor adress if my node but still not able to ssh in
Yes the username is start9. You need to do a lan setup first. Tor adds a whole additional level of complexity. The address is your server’s adjective-nown.local address. After you get that working, you can adapt it for tor.
Ok I see, I need to be on .local first because I was away from home wanted to access ssh outside of local network. I think I understand now.
I’ll do local first and then generate tor address for ssh becuase it is not the same as tor address of start9 node itself if I understood this correctly.
will report after
Thank you!
Awesome! Making progress then. Let me make sure I understand where we are. You were able to ssh into your server with Termius, on your Android device, connecting to your StartOS server at it’s .local address?
I couldn’t connect to ssh on Termius. I think I cannot figure out how to register ssh key so it is known to host.
I create key in termius under ed25519 generate private/public key upload public key to start9 but still it wont appear in the known host on the termius app.
so I just borrowed my friends chrome book and was able to use windows PowerShell on local network. followed instructions on using ssh and it worked for local access but since its windows I do not know how to connect to ssh outside of local location. I wanted to use on mobile cuase its convenient and termius allows this because I do not want to use laptop computer.
We have instructions for SSH access remotely on Windows using PuTTY, as well as SSH over Tor for Linux and macOS. If you’re using a mobile device, I’m afraid you’ll need to figure it out on your own. Here’s the guide:
Thanks I’ll figure it out myself!
one thing is still not clear in the instruction even under putty ssh over Tor it doesn’t say what tor address to use.
is the tor address to access ssh the same as it is found under about section of start9?
Let me correct my previous statement. Connecting via PuTTY on Windows is only for LAN connections, so you must use your local address. Remote access is currently only available through Tor. This will change with the release of StartOS v0.3.6, which will offer more options for remote access. For now, Tor remains the only option.
No, it will generate a new Tor address specifically for SSH access. Keep in mind that every time you restart the server or the Tor daemon, it will generate a new one.
