Start9 Turning off During Bitcoin Core Sync

Hey, my Start9 is turning off during the Bitcoin Core Sync…I have hardly made any progress in a week. It felt hot so I have a small fan on it, it is in a ventilated area with no walls close to it and elevated off the ground. It will run anywhere between 30min to 4 hours but then I lose all that work.

If your server were to power off for any reason, you would not lose all the progress so far. What do the Bitcoin logs say? What server model is this?

Hey it is the server pure purchased last year. I am definitely losing progress…the las log showed height 78,000 and then I was back at 73000 when I checked after a restart.

Are there any further details you can share? Are you installing Bitcoin for the first time now after many months of using the server? Did something happen that made you want to wipe Bitcoin and start over?

Typically when a server is working really hard on something (like Bitcoin which demands a lot of resources) a sudden loss of power could indicate that the power supply is not providing enough power. We’ve had some instances of this in the past. We normally recommend trying another as a first step, how/where to get one depends on your location.

Have you signed up for support at start9.me ? Or do you just prefer this forum?

Hey yes free private support came with the server however when I try and log on today it keeps telling me it has been cancelled for the server. I have not idea what I am doing wrong there and have given up.

Would you recommend I get a UPS?

Sorry re other details. There is nothing else on the server, I did try and install the freeGPT but it failed and I did a rebuild. I have never installed Bitcoin prior to this.

This is not an error that the support server returns, so I’m not sure what the issue is exactly. Are you try to login, or trying to register for the very first time? Those are two very different scenarios.

I’ve managed to track you down as a customer and find out where you’re located. I could send you an Amazon link of what I recommend you purchase first (power adapter) and I’d guess that would solve this issue. Don’t want to post the link here though, since I don’t want to dox your country of residence. Or maybe no big deal? let me know and let me know where I can help in getting you on the support server.

Oh thank you so much! I don’t mind the place of residence being exposed.

I will contact start9 directly through some original emails to get the private support sorted. No doubt it will be something stupid I am doing.

This is a good one: KFD 19V 65W 45W Universal AC Adapter Laptop Charger for Acer Asus Medion HP Dell Toshiba IBM Sony Fujitsu Gateway Notebook Ultrabook Chromebook Monitor Power Supply Cord 1.75A 2.1A 2.37A 3.42A : Amazon.com.au: Computers

I can’t find a good 4.74amp one, but the 3.42a is generally fine. The important thing is that its 19V and has a 5.5x2.5mm connector, and a minimum of 3.42amps
