Startos 0.4.0.1 unable to boot on DIY Embassy One (Raspberry Pi 4 8GB 2TB SSD)

My DIY Embassy One 0.3.5.1 is prepared, backed up and shut down properly.

Removed the sdcard, flashed with 0.4.0.1 using Balena Etcher, reinserted the card and pressed power button.

The green and red light never blink, just stayed solid. The LAN port lights on the server was lit and solid, no blinking. My router could not detect it. Waited for an hour, same thing.

I suspected that there could be a boot problem with 0.4.0.1 for Embassy One. Shut down and removed the sdcard, flashed with 0.3.5.1, reinsert, and it booted properly and was detected by my router within a few minutes. I now have my server recovered and back online with 0.3.5.1.

What could be the problem? Please help me.

Hi there

Good sign 0.3.5.1 came right back — your hardware, SSD, and data are fine.

Solid lights with no blinking and no router detection usually means the 0.4.0.1 image didn’t boot, most likely a bad flash. Try re-downloading the 0.4.0.1 Raspberry Pi ISO, verify the SHA256 checksum against GitHub, then reflash (a different microSD is worth a shot too).

Heads up — not many Pi setups have been tested on 0.4.0.1 yet, so if a verified reflash still won’t boot, it could be the image itself. Let me know and I’ll escalate.

Thanks for the reply h0mer. FYI I have correct SHA256 checksum on the downloaded file and I have also tried booting with another microsd card. The older 0.4.0.0 image file was also tried, same problem. Please kindly help me escalate this.

Please verify the image you’re using.

Verified SHA256 and also right after flashing with Belina Etcher checking phase, I did not skip that.
